From Summer to Winter, Skipping the Inbetween

View from my window this morning! Such a great surprise

Hey guys,
There has been so much buzz today about the snow fall from last night that caught everyone off guard. Personally, it was a great surprise; I almost thought it was a sign of good luck because I had a mid-term today. Others weren’t too ready to get their winter jackets out of their closets just yet. Everyone on campus was talking about how crazy early the snow is, someone even said, “Well….welcome to Logan!” But they’re exactly right! Welcome to good ol’ Logan, the most beautiful campus there is that the snow is just the cherry on top. Yeah, of course it’s cold and snowy, but all the more reason to take it in and enjoy it because it’s not going anywhere anytime soon, so bring it on! It’s time to sled down old main hill with a mattress( yes, I said mattress), snowboard or ski up at Beaver Mountain Resort (which is only 30 minutes away), fill up on cookies and hot chocolate, and have a good ol’ fashioned snowball fight. And, just one more month till the movie, Elf will be playing on repeat on my TV.
 Tis the season!
Cheers!

Surfing in 60 degree weather?!

Hey guys!
I had SUCH a fun weekend! Some friends and I went canal surfing and shooting.

There's a canal in the Logan River on the island where you attach a rope and hold onto it while surfing with a skim board. I was super hesitant at first because I didn't want to fall into the freezing water! I've snowboarded and wakeboarded before but those boards are attached to your feet so I was a little skeptical about a skim board. I was a little wobbly at first but as soon as I got the hang of it, I was smooth ridin'! I was so relieved I didn't end up floating
down the freezing river.
My friend Caleb and I just surfin' it

The sound of the shot was the scariest part
I shot my first shot gun too! I was super hesitant about this one because the only thought I had in my head was, "you'll shoot your eye out!" from A Christmas Story. I was terrified of the gun cocking back and hitting my shoulder but it ended up being so fun! It still cocked back and shoved me back so my form wasn't the best but who cares! It was my first time, and I felt like such a rebel :) Here's a video of it, you'll see how happy I was at the end when I hit the board! It was super rewarding.

AND! On top of all that, Utah State beat San Jose by a landslide, with 13 sacks! We came into the game with about 12 sacks I think and from that one game we doubled it. How crazy! I love USU!

Go aggies!

Happy Fall Y'all!
Fall is here and I cannot wait for the cold weather, open fires, hot chocolate, and movie nights! Once the cold weather hits, my friends and I love staying in and watching movies and eating all the junk food our heart desires. Not to mention all the pumpkin treats! I'm a sucker for pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cakes, you name it! NOM NOM NOM
For today's blog, I wanted to mention some of my favorite places to eat in Logan and what I like there:

1. Herm's Inn
Location: On the "Island" on Canyon Road. *The Island is an area of town that is located in this huge dip, where a lake (Lake Bonneville) used to be. Essentially making it feel like the island area is its own town, being away and almost "under" the rest of Logan. You'll see what I mean once you get here!

Like: They have the biggest cinnamon roll pancakes to satisfy your sweet tooth. They're seriously bigger than the size of your face. They even have bacon and chocolate chip pancakes. I know it may sound weird to you but there's something about the flavor combo of salty and sweet that makes it delicious!

2. Twizl Berry
Location: One on north Main street, and one on south Main street.
Like: I get the original tart yogurt and load it on with fruit and gummy bears. It's a healthier side of my sweet tooth!

3. Factory Pizzeria
Location: South Main street
Like: THE ATMOSPHERE! The restaurant itself is located in a basement where you can just throw peanut shells on the floor and carve your name into the wooden tables. It's kind of a loud, happening place. A perfect place to meet friends!

4. La Tormenta
La Tormenta exteriorLocation: North Main street
Like: I love Mexican food, but only the real authentic Mexican food. This place has just that. The best smothered burritos, rice, and re-fried beans. YUM!

Hope you all have a good week!

Ooop, oop, Oppa Gangnam Style

Hello to all you future Aggies!

I'm sure many of you have heard about the new hit song that has been the talk of the town lately. It's a Korean pop song (woot! Go Korea!) called, "Gangnam Style". If you haven't, then youtube it, but Warning! You WILL become addicted so proceed at your own risk...
My friend and I decided to attempt the dance that everyone else in the world is trying to learn. I have a feeling I'm going to regret this but I am willing to share it with you all, because it's a pretty good laugh in my opinion.
Here it is!

Hope you enjoyed! Try filming a funny video with your friends, I'd love to see it, and honestly, it couldn't be more embarrassing than mine!

Until next time,
E

Aggies Bleed Blue

FALL IS HERE! Scarf and boot weather is finally here and I am ecstatic, because it only means snow will be here in no time. As the weather gets colder, campus life is becoming warmer. Football season brings all the students together which helps remind me how proud I am to be an Aggie, especially when we beat the Utes! I went from getting goosebumps after the first touchdown, to tears after we all rushed the field. Throughout my three years of attending USU, I have never experienced such a monumental moment, where I basically cried due to winning a football game.
This past week was Business Week which has also helped renewed my passion and interest in the major am studying in. Not only am I proud to be an Aggie, but I am also proud to be a student of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. All this school pride has been overwhelming and it only helps to remind me of how happy I am to have committed to USU.
I cannot wait for the leaves to fall and it begins to snow! I can hear Beaver Mountain calling my name...

The People of Logan...

Hey there!
The second week of school has begun and the main thing that pops up in my head are the people here. I remember in high school, it was so exciting to see who all were in my classes and who had the same lunch period as I did. I STILL feel the same way going to classes in college. I look forward to seeing all the new and old faces in my classes and getting to know my professors. I used to think that professors in college would all be like Professor Snape from Harry potter, and act ruthless toward their students. But in reality, they're like Professor Dumbledore! They're all so passionate about teaching and are ultimately there to help guide you; they truly want you to pass! (TIP: Really get to know your professors and introduce yourself. It'll make your experience in their class 50x better!)
I really can't express the feeling I get while on campus. It's always so fun seeing friends that you haven't seen for a few months and catching up with them. It's so exciting to get your social life back into full gear having all your friends back in good ol' Cache Valley. It's okay to go and play with your friends from time to time! You don't always have to have your head buried in books. Take breaks and enjoy yourself, because this is COLLEGE! It's time to have the best times of your lives out here, so take full advantage of it! And I'm sure Professor Dumbledore would agree with me too...

Until next time,
E

This is just the beginning...

Hey Hey Hey! It's Eunice here, and I am so so excited to share my experiences with you! I love Aggie life and the atmosphere of just being around all your friends and I can't wait to share it with you!
Just to tell you a little about myself, my name is Eunice and I am from Northern Virginia (East coast reppin'!). I'm going into my third year in college and I am majoring in Business Administration. But before we get into school and all that jazz, I wanted to reminisce over my summer.
I had the chance to go to Hawaii and went cliff jumping and I also visited my friend in San Diego and we hiked to the highest point in the city. Me and some friends built a pontoon boat out of scratch and supplies from the DI. We took it out to Porcupine Dam and it actually FLOATED! I also spent a week in Bear Lake and went wakeboarding, banana boating, and fishing. I caught a baby bass too! I went camping at Tony's grove with some friends and ate some yummy foil dinners. I even got a new puppy! He's a wiener dog and I named him Oliver (Ollie for short).
This summer has been so fun being with friends and relaxing under the sun. But it's time to buckle down and get ready for classes to start. Logan has been slowly getting busier with students moving back and settling in and it makes me so ecstatic! I can't wait to see old and new faces, and make new friends. Also, call me a nerd, but I'm realllllyyy excited to get brand new notebooks, colorful pens, and of course new clothes for the school year!   I can't wait to see what this year has to offer and nonetheless, to share them with you!
Until next time,
E
