Define You

"Say what? We are the peeps of the yellow team, say what?"

Hey ya'll!

Diversity day this year was a BLAST! From playing "cross the river" to team chants (Go team yellow!) to learning to define YOU. Being on the Multicultural Recruitment Council, I get to talk to high school seniors and juniors and talk to them about Aggie life. This year's theme was "Define You", learning to break through certain stereotypes and define who we are underneath it all. In one of our workshops we made a video to help students understand that stereotypes surround us but we need to step up and make a foundation for ourselves. Here is the video for those of you who haven't seen it or would like to see it again:

We even had Irish dancing, Polynesian dancing, and Asian Student Union dancing to Gangnam Style!
I hope all the students who came to Diversity Day this year had so much fun and were inspired to define who they are and seek a higher education. The day ended with Aggie Ice Cream, which was just the cherry on top. I hope to see all you students next year on campus as freshman.

From Mashed Potatoes To The Potato Bowl

Happy Holidays everyone!
This past week has been a much needed break from school full of good food and good company. For the Thanksgiving break I headed down south to Orem to visit my good friend Anna. We made 100 rolls to bring to a potluck dinner and ended up not being able to eat a ton of turkey in the end. We couldn't resist the warm rolls as they came out of the oven. But I did make SURE to leave room for pumpkin pie, YUM! There were about 50 friends and family, plus 4 dogs running around. It was quite the bustling evening, I'd say. One dog was a spotted Great Dane that was about the size of a mini horse! He ended up licking up my plate that was on the dinner table which I'm sure that made his Thanksgiving.
The Hounds
It's now time to celebrate Christmas

Saturday was the last game of the 2012 USU football season which was also Senior day. This is the last year for a few of my friends so I drove up to Logan to cheer them on. We creamed Idaho, ending the season with quite the kick. We are now headed to the Potato Bowl in Idaho, again! I am extremely proud of my friends who have come so far and accomplished so much as part of the team. This blog is for you guys; Good luck in all your future endeavors and thank you for leading our team to be ranked 20th (and climbing) in the nation. Ofa atu!  But for meow....LET'S KICK SOME BUTT AT THE BOWL GAME!

Cool Videos!

Hey guys,
I came across some of these sweet videos of Utah State University so check 'em out!

The Howl is a tradition taken place every Wednesday during finals week where students will "howl" at the library in order to relieve the stress from finals. I plan on participating this year!

Diversity Day is Just Around the Corner

Diversity Day last year
Hey future Aggies!

This week has been crazy busy with exams, homework, and getting ready for Diversity Day! I am apart of the Multicultural Recruitment Council (MRC) here at school where we organize a program called Diversity Day. If you haven't heard of it, it's an invite towards high school students, mainly juniors and seniors from all over Utah and Idaho to come up to USU and see what the buzz is about being an Aggie. It's this Friday where students will come up to Logan and participate in workshops, learn about applying to college, eat tons of Aggie ice cream, and make new friends. I cannot wait to see new and familiar faces up on campus where I can share my excitement and passion for USU. And this way, I can actually show them first-hand what a great atmosphere it is in Cache Valley.

This years' theme is about discovering yourself, breaking through stereotypes and "Defining YOU." College is about discovering who you are and what you're passionate about. But in order to achieve that, you must build a strong foundation for yourself by defining who you are and what you stand for; No matter what race, gender, or background.

I hope to see you guys there, it's going to be tons of fun playing games, eating FOOD and sharing all of our Aggie pride with YOU!

Until next time,
E

Where the Sagebrush Grows

Forrest Dabb and family after the Texas State game
Hey guys!
Our rockstar, Jenn Flynn!! Way to go girl!! (Photo Credit: Jen Turnerdrown)
This weekend has been full of Aggie spirit! There were two basketball games, a football game, a hockey game, AND a soccer game.
Of course we won the football game by a landslide; we’re so close to a Bowl game I can smell it. The weather was beautiful that day and all the Aggie fans and family were out supporting the team. It’s amazing to see the community all come together and show so much excitement for our football team, or any USU athletic team for that matter.

Logan is so much more than a college town, it’s a family where we all have one thing in common: We Bleed Blue.

My friend and roommate Jenn Flynn is on the soccer team so we all went to show her support as well. The women's soccer team kicked butt and won the WAC championship game, I had goosebumps when the final whistle was blown by the referee. The excitement and adrenaline from the team was so contagious, I felt so proud to be an Aggie and so happy that all of their hard work paid off. NCAA here we come!

Until next time,
 E

Congratulations girls!
