A-Week Festivities

It's A-week ya'll!
The Student Alumni Association plans out a whole week of fun activities before we're all cooped up inside the library, studying for finals.

Each day is a different event:

Monday: Chariot Race hosted by Red Bull

Students got into teams and raced down "Aggie-Bull-evard"
Red Bull hosted the event where students enjoyed free energy drinks

Big Blue made an appearance to help start the race. Check out the costumes people had!
Tuesday: Movie Night at the spectrum!
There was free pizza and we watched "Back to The Future" on the jumbotron.

People brought their pillows and blankets to get cozy for the movie

Wednesday: Bike Mob
Students brought their bikes, scooters, skateboards, and mopeds and rode all around campus and Logan.

We had a dance party and treats at the finish line to celebrate. It was my first time eating a creamie, banana is my favorite!
Shirts were given out to the first 100 participants
Big Blue came to lead the bike mob all around campus
Thursday: Miss USU
We hosted the first Miss USU since a long time to compete for a scholarship and tiara. The theme was Hollywood, where some of our own Aggie super stars participated. Our future student body president, Doug Fiefia, helped host along with our football quarterback, Chuckie Keeton, who was one of the judges of the competition.

There was a booty shaking competition while the contestants were getting ready for the show. Ladies...they're all single!!!

The beautiful pageantees during the formal wear

Congratulations to Miss Science, Laura Mortenson!!
Side note: Doug decided to match ME with my outift!...But all in all, it was a great turn out!
Friday: Day On the Quad, Dance, and True Aggie Night
Day on the quad is a day event where different clubs, organizations, and bussineses around Cache Valley set up booths out on the quad. You can play games and win prizes, get free trinkets, candy, and food
I kicked some butt at corn hole and won a gift certificate!
There was a huge dance in the fieldhouse gym, then True Aggie Night started at midnight.  Students kiss on the "A" at midnight to become a true, and one and only, Aggie!
A-week ended perfectly with True Aggie Night
A-Week has been so much fun and quite the stress reliever to help keep me sane before finals. Can't wait to see all you future Aggies on campus to enjoy these fun events that are put on for no one else, but you!

Much love,

E

Hispanic Leadership Conference

Hello Aggies!
The best group ever, team White! I had so much fun getting to know you guys, I really do hope I see you guys on campus next year!

The Multicultural Recruitment Council hosted our annual Hispanic Leadership Conference (HLC) and this years' theme was "Stand Up, Stand Out". For those of you who don't know what HLC is, it's a leadership conference for students all over Utah and Idaho to attend and learn about being an example in their communities, as well as play games, eat Aggie ice cream, and meet new people.

Stand up, Stand out!

Alex and I were team white which was the one and only best group ever! I love seeing old and new faces at these conferences; it makes me happy to see multicultural students come together and embrace our backgrounds. I see so much potential in all the students that come to this conference and I look forward to seeing some of you guys at Utah State in the near future!
Alex and I rockin' our white pants to represent team white!

Brandon and Julian! Julian was team pink; Do you like his pink scarf?
Go Aggies!

Hola Amigos!

Hola!
For spring break this year some friends and I decided to embark on a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico and Catalina Island, California. We all took a road trip down to the Long Beach port in California where we all settled into our rooms on the cruise ship. As we unpacked and got ready for a relaxing new few days, we realized all of our neighbors in the next rooms all looked very similar.
We rented motor bikes and rode them all around the island

The Mexican flag in Ensenada was HUGE!..And so was Brayden's hat!

We began making friends with people on the cruise and realized that practically half the cruise ship were all Utah State students, or at least attend a university in Utah and were all on the cruise for their spring break. The other half were students from Arizona who were also on their spring break trip as well. It was so much fun making friends on the cruise ship and knowing that we would be able to see them around campus again after the trip. It brought us all closer together as several Aggies got to travel to a different country together and experience the food and culture of Mexico together.
We visited the La Bufadora (the blowhole) and all the flea market stores

I loved seeing our Aggies on the cruise ship because it made me feel proud to represent our university while traveling. Aggies not only know how to study hard, but we know how to play hard too! It was so fun vacationing with my peers and being able to bring back those experiences back to Logan.

My new Aggie friends that I made! I seem them around campus all the time now

I wonder what next years’ spring break trip will have in store…I’m excited to find out!

Here Comes the Bride

Hello Aggies!

I was so excited and relived for this long weekend, having Monday off due to President's day. I was even more excited when I got a phone call from my best friend who is getting married that we were going to California for the weekend! We left that night. It truly was a spontaneous trip, but I was so excited for the crazy adventure ahead of us. The drive was 10 hours from Logan to Ontario, California. It was a jam packed weekend with not a lot of sleep and a lot of shopping for dresses and last minute wedding things. But the sunshine and warmth was insanely unreal.

My favorite part about the trip was stopping at Yogurtland! Fro yo is my favorite dessert and it was well worth the trip to take a break and enjoy some.

I love Logan because it's in a great location where it isn't TOO far from Las Vegas, Los Angeles, or even Salt Lake City. It's in a perfect spot with a good radius from a lot of major cities to vacation to; even if it is just for the weekend!

Go Aggies!

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor

Greetings Aggies!

I am so excited for the next few weeks because it is Elections Week! My friend, Doug Fiefia is running for ASUSU President We've made several videos to invade social media like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and now this blog to get his name out there. We even made a Harlem Shake video starring US! Some people were dressed up as Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Ariel from the Little Mermaid.

(Doug is singing in the middle)

We've been spray painting banners to put up all around Cache Valley with "Fiefia for President" and painted an A-frame with face cut outs of the beach so students can take pictures.

It was FREEZING as you can tell by Bryan's face. We painted over

It's been an amazing experience gathering hundreds of students together for one cause and for one goal: To better USU and make it available for students to voice their opinions.

Good luck to all the other candidates running for president:

Josue Carias
Luke Ensign
Hayden Smith
Chaise Warr

Check out their platforms at:

Stand up and Vote USU!

I couldn't be more proud to be an Aggie right meow.

Hang Loose Brah

I probably stayed up for no longer then 5 seconds
Aloha Aggies!
Imagine sitting down and eating a nice, big, burrito after a long day; Smothered in cheese and salsa with a side of fresh pico de gallo and lettuce. Now imagine looking over and seeing a group of people in the room next to you making a fool out of themselves while trying to surf. I’m sure you’d lose your appetite if you were to see how terrible I was at surfing at FlowRider in Ogden. The FlowRider shoots up "sheets of waves" that pumps continuous water to the surface, enabling you to surf.

I thought it would be the similar to snowboarding but it's a lot harder than you think. But it's a good thing my pride hurts more than my neck from wiping out so many times. What was even worse was there was an older guy right next to us who was a heavier set that was just shredding it like it was his job. Can you believe that?!

FlowRider was an awesome way to break our cabin fever from the winter weather outside. We went from surfing in bathing suits, to shaking down to our bones in scarves and boots. I absolutely love snow, but sometimes you just have to go surfing to keep yourself sane!

Much love,

Roller Rink!

My friends, Jessica, Alex, Haddie, and Abby!!

We tried roller skating but had to switch to blades instead!

Hey future Aggies!

My friends and I went to the Cache Valley Fun Park this past weekend and went roller skating! Buckling up those roller blades brought back so many memories of when I was a kid and would roller blade everyday after school. We played tag around the rink, jumped over chairs, skated on our hands, and made a train!
Posing for the camera!
Jessica fell while trying to do a spin

My friend, Haddie, had the idea of racing across the rink; I was determined! We started at one end, and she counted down, "Ready...set....GO!" We bolted across and I started to gain speed but didn't think of how I was going to stop at the other end, so what's the next best thing to do? I ran straight into the wall and knocked the wind out of myself......But I think I won the race, SO it was all worth it.

With the wintery snow conditions outside still, we take full advantage of fun indoor activities to do while we're still young and in college! And the Fun Park is less than a mile away from campus and only 6 bucks! Those are enough reasons for me to go back and roller blade again and redeem myself for running into the wall.

Cheers!
